Overview
Due to high fines for competition infringements, competition/antitrust law has become one of the key areas of law to look out for. What further complicates the legal landscape in this field is that some countries in the Adriatic region are already members of the EU, while others are still on the way to achieving the membership status. Assisting in transactions crossing such jurisdictional borders is where the advantages of Lex Adria especially come to the fore.
A typical mandate of Lex Adria’s competition and antitrust team would be a merger filing of a transaction notifiable in more than one Lex Adria jurisdiction. This way the client gets a one-stop-shop service and one point of contact for all jurisdictions involved, which greatly contributes to the efficacy of the work and reduces the time and energy the client would spend communicating with the lawyers engaged the filing.
Another example of our mandate would be an analysis of a distribution agreement covering several or all countries of the Adriatic region. While the laws governing such agreements are similar throughout the region, there are some significant peculiarities, too, such as whether the agreement can be automatically exempted from prohibition. In this and other matters, it is essential to know how the local authorities apply the law, which is something our lawyers are especially known for.
